ABOUT PROJECT

Project No: 2023-1-NL01-KA220-ADU-000157556

If you educate a man, you educate an individual. But if you educate a woman, you educate a nation.

Education empowers women to reach their full potential, break the cycle of poverty, and contribute to building stronger, more resilient communities.

The European Union (EU) has long prioritized gender equality, dating back to 1957 with the introduction of equal pay principles. Despite international efforts, UN Women reports that true gender equality remains elusive as of 2022. Various intersecting factors, including race, disability, and nationality, compound discrimination against women. Migrant and refugee women, especially those affected by conflicts like the war in Ukraine, face unique challenges. It's crucial for the education sector to prepare itself with the necessary knowledge and tools to support these women, fostering inclusion and active citizenship within their communities.

Just Her Project

The project aims to support educators working with disadvantaged women, particularly migrants and refugees, to enhance their engagement in learning, language skills, and civic participation, fostering inclusion.

Objectives

Enhancing educators' competences through storytelling methods to inspire inclusion.

Equipping adult educators with effective teaching materials for language instruction.

Promoting inclusion in adult education through improved learning opportunities.

Raising awareness about the need to enhance belonging and inclusion for migrant and refugee women, while addressing historical roots of discrimination.

Creating synergies among educational, cultural, and other relevant entities working with women.

Target group(s)

Adult educators: including social workers, teachers, mentors, and professors, especially those working with women, including migrant and refugee women.
Staff in informal and non-formal adult education contexts, such as women's associations and centers working with migrants.
Experts from partner organizations who will enhance their capacity to support the first two target groups in their work with adult learners.
