CONCEPTUAL BACKGROUND OF THE JUST HER! PROJECT

Project No: 2023-1-NL01-KA220-ADU-000157556

The Conceptual Background of the "Success, Power, Equality, Asylum and Knowledge: Just Her" project delves into the reasons why gender inequalities are heightened when those in the lowest social positions are immigrants or refugees who do not feel part of a community.
The report, based on desk research conducted in partner countries and at the EU level, analyzes the concept of "unknown and invisible women." This term refers to women who, due to their gender, migration status, or refugee condition, are marginalized in host societies.
It provides a detailed analysis of the realities faced by migrant and refugee women in several European countries, including Spain, Turkey, Poland, Ireland, Bulgaria, and the Netherlands. It also offers specific data on the demographic, economic, and social conditions in each of these countries, as well as the specific barriers these women face in integrating.
The report further examines the main challenges faced by migrant and refugee women, such as language barriers, socioeconomic inequalities, cultural prejudices, and limited access to services and resources. It focuses on recommended pedagogical approaches for educators working with migrant and refugee women, highlighting strategies such as intercultural competence, project-based learning, and peer mentoring. It also emphasizes the use of storytelling as an educational tool to connect learning with women's life experiences.
The report concludes with a forward-looking vision of how the project aims to positively impact the lives of migrant and refugee women, illustrating how education can be a driving force for social change, empowering these women to fully integrate into society.
